![]() Devin Lafontaine asks: I stumbled upon your site looking for advice on how to create art content for an Unreal mod. Some friends and myself are organizing ourselves to work on one, and I'm in charge of handling all the artists. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get things into Unreal. I'm hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction. I use Lightwave 5.6 as my 3D package. I'm unsure as to the entire process of modeling, texturing, and animating a character with the intent of ending up in Unreal. How does the normal process go? I was told UnrealEd couldn't be used for anything other than static objects and levels. Stinger First ensure that you have read this file: Unreal Packages This document outlines the nature of Unreal packages, what you need in them, and how to create them. Basically, you do use UnrealEd to perform package operations, although you won't find much for those functions in the GUI interface. The actual build of the packages is done on the command line when referring to 3D objects. Other packages, can be built from within UnrealEd's GUI. Again, read the document above and this will become much clearer. Now that you are armed with that information, you will need to convert your Lightwave objects to 3D Studio MAX objects. Finally, read the following document to move the 3D Studio MAX objects into Lightwave. There might be a plugin for Lightwave to the Unreal UNR format but I don't know if there is. Getting 3D Studio Max Objects into Unreal Hope that helps. .....Stinger
