Name of UT SkinPack: "Colorful Warriors v2.0 SkinPack" (Easy Install)

	| SkinPack includes 25 CW Skins (3 new, not appearing at SkinCity previously) |
	| in a .umod file that allows a much easier install & uninstall! |

AUTHOR(S): Many of these skins were originally painted by the UT pros (particularly Shane Caudle), but they were recolored, repainted slightly, and slightly modified by an old geezer named K_St_theJunior, for nostalgia purposes. They were originally designed just for family use in a home LAN, with just 3 computers in the network. The original Barbarian skin and Snakey skin were both painted by Erik Gist of Gratuitous Games. The first Abbey skins were painted by Roger Bacon, the fellow who created that particular mesh in the Custom Models category, and they were modified by dozens of fan-artists that came after him. So I'm just one in a long line of skin-customizing fans who have produced dozens of new skins for the Abbey model, and mine are a lot less elaborate in costume than the wonderful Abbey skins made by a guy who calls himself "Eldritch." The first Conni skins were painted by Vebjorn Strommen and converted for use in UT by "Husch." In many cases I myself did not do much more than modify the original authors' painted skins by changing the skin coloring to look more like some colorful alien races that might be found on other planets around other stars, but I also changed the costumes a bit as well.

In the case of the Male Soldier modifications (which are by far the largest portion of the CW series), it happened like this. Parts of the textures were re-colored a bit and component pieces of the original UT skins were often recombined in a way different to the form of the official skins that were issued with UT. But of course I also modified some skins originally painted by other authors for the Barbarian, Snakey, Abbey, and Conni models. Now why did I spend so much time on this conversion process when I am a non-artist? ("Darn it all, Captain, I'm a librarian, not an artist!")

Well, it's like this. I wanted to recreate the feel of the really primitive "pioneer science-fiction" from the earliest decades in the 20th century. I really loved that stuff enormously when I was growing up and reading the s-f "classics" back in the early 1960's. To create this effect, I took a bare-chested UT skin that initially possessed only some uglier, meaner-looking faces which came with it in the first release of Unreal Tournament, and I combined it with Shane Caudle's most handsome and heroic face, the "Brock" face... so that it could start to look like the classic Earth traveler who visits another planet, as in the days of the old pioneer s-f. I then modified the costume with a little re-coloring and new combinations. That's how the whole series got started.

FILES IN THIS SKINPACK:
Lots and lots --
See the bottom of this page for the entire list.

DESCRIPTION (please read!):

Remember the colorful warriors of the pioneer s-f written in the first decades of the 20th century? The EarthWarrior and all his buddies were designed for recreations of that sort of battle, and are especially suited to the sword fights of the ChaosUT mutator. We generally use it with the WORM weapons mutator, giving the bots mostly swords (from ChaosUT) and phasors (from U4EverMod) as the most appropriate weapons. We also employ the MonsterMadness and MonsterHunt mutators with these "Colorful Warriors," and so we have a lot of fun with them in this fashion!

The EarthWarrior can battle beside or against human players and bots in some fun flashbacks to the days of the old pioneer science-fiction period. He will succeed in his purpose if he reminds you a bit of the prototypical Warlord from another world, and thus revives your long-buried memories of certain pioneer space-travelers found in the science-fantasy / science-fiction genre of literature.

If you've never read the "classics" from the first three decades of the 20th century, please show a little respect for the historic heros of pioneer s-f -- and for their wonderful feats of conquest and invincibility -- by reading their adventure stories in the original fantasy-novel classics when you get some free time!

Remember that all the comic-book superheros of our age (including Superman and Batman from the 1930's, and the later Spiderman of the early 1960's) are just second-generation copies of the earlier prototypes. They are all very much derivative of the ancient (but revered) grandaddies of the superheros. Prototypes came forth from the second decade of the 20th century.

So, hey, don't forget to search around a bit and get hold of some fantastic heroic-adventure novels! Some of the greatest classics from the pioneer days are currently available for free through the internet, as they are now in the public domain! Do you know how fortunate you are? There must be a lucky star over the Red Planet tonight!

EarthWarrior is a foundational part of the "Colorful Warriors" series, so it is found under the Male Soldier selection list as "CW EarthWarrior." Two others in the set will be found under the Female Commando list, also starting with a "CW" prefix. If you've got the Barbarian, Snakey, Abbey, and Conni models already installed on your computer, you're ready to look under those names within the Models list in order to find the rest of the CW- prefixed skins that I've provided here. If not, you'd better install those custom models first!

Please refer to a separate text-file, also included in the installation umod, for some tips, hints, and files that can be utilized to create a more "family-friendly" version of this mod for use in UT. That's the way we do it in our own home, and the ONLY way we ever use UT -- with absolutely no blood, gore, or bad language!

I have included, among other things, an alternate "Announcer" file that we have always used at our house, which will reduce the UT Announcer's verbal commentary to only the words "Rampage!", "Unstopable!", and "Dominating!" The UT Announcer will then speak only the above exclamations in every situation where he would otherwise have said something like "Head Shot!", "Double Kill!", "Multi-Kill!", etc.

Yes, I even customized UT to the extent of making a "skin" for the Announcer sounds! I also made a "Bloodless Sword" skin (not included in the SkinPack) to be used during employment of the ChaosUT sword, which I first discovered by reading the box-cover information on the "Game Of The Year" edition of UT! If I had not done this, my two sons would never have been allowed to play the game! Between the use of my modified sound-file and our use of the game's native settings for "Ultra-Low Violence" and "No Taunts," we managed to come up with a solution that allowed my two high-school age boys to play the game a bit on the weekends. Why a time-limit and only on weekends, you may ask?

Well, my sons are both categorized as "gifted" students in their schools -- and their father intends to keep it that way! If they had their own wishes in the matter, they'd probably spend the entire week on computer games! So I make sure they spend quite a number of hours reading instead!

TO INSTALL:
You can use the "Easy Install" Umod for a fast install of the entire set of Colorful Warriors skins and their paraphernalia, and if you're using something like Umod Tool to do the install, you can also have a very fast uninstall later on.

Hope you'll have some fun with it, and best wishes to all from K_St_theJunior!

FILES ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE UMOD
(With More To Be Added Later):

The CW SkinPack umod will auto-install all the appropriate "ServerPackages" entries in your game's UnrealTournament.ini file, for each and every one of the "Colorful Warriors" skins, so you will no longer have to add the lines manually. This is necessary for their use in network (LAN) games, and its a lot easier to do this way.
