Laser Sights
============

Laser Sights is a mutator I came up with while working on StuffSwapper but finished first. I got the idea messing about with the new AgentX source code released by Jon Bartram (aka Mr White) when I saw some of the weapons had a laser sight. What this mutator does is add a laser sight that works regardless of the weapon you're carrying.

To be honest the dot's not much use for aiming, you've got the crosshair for that and it gets too small to see at range. But imagine a UT team game where you're in a shadowy alleyway in say DM-Dogtown and see a laser dot appear on the wall from over your shoulder. This mutator leads to serious paranoia!

The effects a bit more manic in tight levels, you get laser dots going everywhere. It adds the most to your UT experience on maps with a bit of space to build the tension and lower light levels so the dots stand out more but this is one of those mutators you can just leave on no matter what sort of gametype or map you're playing.

If you really want to try and use the dot for aiming go to the HUD section of the Preferences menu and change the crosshair colour to Custom. Then pull the three colour sliders all the way to the left so the crosshair dissapears.

The mutator adds a key bind so you can turn the dot off and back on (the bots leave it on) but it's disabled in multiplayer games so no one can gain an advantage out of not having one. It also turns off automatically if you select a hand-to-hand weapon or feign death. This last ones necessary because if it's left on when you die it hovers over the body which looks a bit weird.

Credits: The image for the dot and switching sound are from the AgentX source code with the permission of Jon B, thanks Jon!

Installation: Just unzip the files and put them in your UT system directory. Once you start up UT configure the activation key if you want to be able to turn the Laser Sight off and on. To make it work over the net or a LAN the server needs the entry "ServerPackage=LaserSights" in the Engine.GameEngine section of it's UnrealTournament.ini file.

Compatibility Notes: I've tested this a fair bit and haven't found any mods it doesn't like. Turning off the dot automatically for hand-to-hand weapons relys on the bMeleeWeapon variable to recognise them, which is OK for the Impact Hammer and Chainsaw but some weapon mods may not set it. Also, some maps have invisible boundaries the laser won't shine through so depending on where you point it the dot may disappear occassionally.
